Capes’ surge “lift” Dries with Wets struggling amid financial and geopolitical chaos
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 50 points and now stands at 764, thanks mainly to the Capes’ unprecedented, even proportionally high level of surge. John Faraclas’ early midweek brief recap:
The Capes’ BCI was up 180 points surpassing also the 1,000-points psychological threshold and now reads 1,039 – a volatile surge…
The Panamaxes’ BPI lost three points and now reads 796…
Rich pickings for the Supras; the BSI was up 24 points and now stands at 556 points.
Handies’ mild gains brought the BHSI up five points at 309…
The Wets… still struggling and the fall coninues; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 572 – minus five and 43 – minus 17 points respectively… CAUTION…
The WTI, as these lines are being written (16:12 BST), is nearly a dollar below from yesterday’s closing reading US$37.98… As of 19:28 same “improved” and now it is up to US$ 39.61…
The Geopolitical situation is summarised into the following crucial issues:
MIGRANTS: “On standby” for thousands to try and cross over from Turkey to Greece (mainland and islands) – EUROPEAN UNION Lands, eh!!!, and from Libya to Italy, Malta and elsewhere. Ultra CAUTION should be observed, as it will lead to an uncontrollable situation with despicable sufferings for all involved – no petty excuses from EU politicians and their cronies as well as NATO!
The faulty line between Gib and Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa is getting worse; Turkey is desperate trying to destroy World Peace and its involvement in Libya speaks alone – not to mention the continuous pestering of Greece and Cyprus – two members of the EU and NATO (Greece)… Its backers one day will swear they have milked their mothers… by supporting Turkey just for their own interests… CAUTION…
BREXIT causes frictions with the EU; we can offer our good offices to bring both sides to a square deal; Leave Vote majority is one thing, implementing a square deal for the benefit of both sides of the Channel, yet another… CAUTION !
Europe in tatters in tackling already existing financial issues – and new ones, incalculable though vis-a- vis “overcoming” the Coronavirus (COVID-19) anathema…
All in all Planet Ocean is engulfed by possibly the worse ever Recession – you haven’t seen anything yet. Unemployment already bites; millions are being laid-off…
Relaxing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) measures proved silly as the re-surge and spreading is ante portas with the Southern Hemisphere in total mess… Let’s see what happens until October 2020… Up to now we have just over 7,2 million (seven point two million) cases and just over 410,000 deaths. The USA has just over 2 (two) million cases and just over 110,000 deaths…
At the other side of the Atlantic and in particular in the USA things are not yet clear following the aftermath of George Floyd’s death; Ultra CAUTION should be observed to avoid a global civil unrest… We insist for calm and never ever again.-
Moreover, it seems that the road to recovery in the USA might be a long one; too many unemployed, nearly a zero interest rate and the COVID-19 will make it worse… AND it’s an election year…
Brazil might come in the centre of a big mess unless its leader comes down to his senses…
Argentinian people too are struggling to survive.
China plays its own tunes whilst Japan is closely watching..
Same, even worse situation in Africa..
In Australia, mind the Aboriginals…
Putin’s Russia continues its own agenda whilst India and Pakistan are trying for Peace and better days…
Don’t ask what is about to happen in the wider Middle East.
Have a nice evening and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let’s work collectively together!
