Commentary: ECB pauses after easing sprint

On 16 July the European Central Bank’s 25-member governing council will deliberate on what has been the most active period in ECB history. After massive easing action the council is expected to mark a decision-making pause. There are 10 key issues on their minds – ranging from the pandemic emergency purchase programme and the German constitutional court episode to potential problems from disparate euro area recovery and underlying governance tensions on the council.

Meeting: Global Public Investor 2020 Asia launch

The Global Public Investor, now in its seventh year, is devoted to public sector asset ownership and management around the world. The Asia virtual launch will focus on the key findings and issues covered and the comprehensive ranking of the world’s 750 largest public investors based on assets under management. A panel will also discuss how key Asian institutions have managed the economic and financial fallout from the pandemic, including the role of long-term capital in a post-Covid world and how global public investors can harness innovation.
