Stranded Markets “look” for that unique momentum to …remain afloat…
The BDI was up 11 points since yesterday standing at 1,710 but also same was down 100 points since last Friday the 10th of July when it stood at 1,810 points. Geopolitics are in the worst possible state and the Coronavirus anathema continues to make waves… John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recap:
The Capes’ BCI was up 54 points at 3,025 – surpassing once “again” the 3,000 points threshold… On a weekly though basis same was down 315 points – from 3,330 last week (10/07)… a big CAUTION for the Capes… Volatile jeopardy at its best – wonder what applies on S and P valuations…
Panamaxes fell with the BPI down to 1,504 – minus 40 points. The weekly loss was 83 points – from 1,587…
Supras’ BSI maintained its upwards mode and clinched 11 points reaching 910 points – over and above the 900 points threshold! The weekly gains to were well received by all in the sector: a good 75 points plus !!
Handies remained in the game with four points plus since yesterday and now reading 457 points. On a weekly basis 22 points plus wasn’t bad – from 435 las week…
So all in all we have a volatile, an uncertain dry market and nothing should be taken for granted!!!!
The Wets also on a volatile but milder mode; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 520 – plus 11 points and 329 – no change since yesterday, respectively. On a weekly basis the Dirties were up 20 points from that “famous” 500 points-flat and the Cleans were down five points – from 334 points….
Like in the Dry sector, CAUTION should be observed with respect the projections in the Wets…
The WTI fell a bit and ended at US$40.57 – to be more precise 40.575, slightly up since las week’s US$40.565…
The Dry, Wet and WTI figures as well as projections coupled with the perplexed Geopolitics and the Coronavirus’ anathema set the scene of what is yet to come. The issue is one: How you overcome uncertainty in a bankrupt and sick Planet Ocean and proceed further as a shipowner no matter if you are listed or not; small or big… The debt factor of the majority of the shipping entities is now incalculable… When we stressed the fact that Shipping becomes Shipping for the very very very few– given the circumstances a few years ago, we saw eyebrows… Well they have all spectacularly failed to understand how the markets operate… particularly in the absence of normal cyclicality… Wake up!
The Geopolitical situation …impeccably orchestrated by the Politicians and their cronies, supported by the Business Hooligans, Criminals and Warmongers will soon make us all witness despicable events, not just within the faulty zone within the parameters Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses down to the Horn of Africa, but beyond. See the USA’s built-up in the South China Sea and get the message. Add the poverty factor “enhanced” by the Coronavirus’ anathema in Central & South Latin America, Africa, the sub-Continent, the Far East and Australia.
MIGRANTS still the number one issue and on purpose politicians do not solve it… Shameful idiots… One day though they will sit on the dock….
Turkish president Erdogan supported by his backers defies everything and will turn Central, East Med, the Balkans and the wider Middle East region – even up in Caucuses, in a bloodbath area…although we …must wear masks due to Coronavirus, many “masks” in the EU and NATO MUST fall. Too much hypocrisy makes you short sighted… Wake up!!! Grow up!!! It’s a pity that Alexander the Great went to the East and conquered Persia (then an A1 Empire) and the rest… given what the Persians did in the region; and it was only after they left fully defeated from the Aegean, Anatolian Coast and East Med that the entire World has changed… Just read, better say study history and you see what we mean. It is about time to see Erdogan Turks with the resurge of their Neo-Ottoman aspirations to leave and go back were they come from. Remind you that many times we have called them per the American (USA) expression: new kids in the block; indeed they are new kids in the Eastern Mediterranean basin. Either they make Peace with all nations in the region – bordering with or else…

In the North the forthcoming USA presidential election covers the main news and interest and all await how president Trump will respond… Add the latest Racism issue which unfortunately spreads…and see what you get… In the South America the financial crisis will create, if not solved, a social upturn… CAUTION…
Africa… still messy on all aspects with the proxy economic wars being the name of the game… CAUTION here too… Africa also needs discipline if the African continent wishes to go ahead and be further developed for the benefit of its people…
In the Far East we are all worried about the growing build-up in the South China Sea… The USA and China at odds with Japan watching… Hong Kong too in a mess despite otherwise being thought of…

Mind the Coronavirus anathema and the re-surge; its going to be an odd Summer and a very difficult Winter for all. As said recently, the only medicine and vaccine is DISCIPLINE. Abandon GREEDINESS here and now. Just for your info until this very moment we have nearly 14 (fourteen) million cases and just over 600,000 (sixhundredthousand) deaths…. CAUTION!
Mind the fast growing unemployment… The effect of a social upturn no society can sustain…

Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let’s work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 260 (twohundredandsixty) trillion…
