“Nissos Samos” and  “Blue Star Mykonos”  ferries give honorary salutation at Aghia Paraskevi church of Chios (Video Drone)

Like every year, today we celebrate the Day of Saint Paraskevi, the Saint of the Eyes …and beating up Coronavirus – given the circumstances as you will see in the respective drone video.

A very touching moment earlier on tonight just off the Greek Island of Chios in the North Eastern Aegean Sea, where the liturgy and celebrations were honoured by Blue Star’s ferry/passenger vessels, the Blue Star Mykonos and Nissos Samos passing by…. Both vessels did spectacular manoeuvres just off the little caique port in front of Saint Paraskevi, a church built by the Greek Migrants who come over from the Anatolian Coast / Minor Asia following the massacre by the Turks in 1922, having escaped mainly from the Izmir area, Smyrna in Greek, with the major powers of that time naval crew “governed” by apathy, even turning their heads away and worse: pushing them back to the sea…

Congratulations to both masters of the ferries, Captain Vangelis Arahimos from Tinos Island (Blue Star Myconos) and Captain George Arvanitis (Nissos Samos), a local Chiot who comes, coincidentally, from Aghia Paraskevi… Sheer Seamanship!

It was also a very touching moment for the passengers on board of both ships as well as the worshipers attending the service… AND an excellent show of Fireworks amid also the …mist of smoke… Chiots are universally renowned for their Easter Fireworks, particularly in the town of Vrontados… when every Easter Aghios Markos …takes on Panaghia Erythiani, a custom from the days Chios was under the Ottoman yoke…

Well done, Congratulations and thanks to Konstantinos Mil. Anagnostou – www.chiosphotos.gr for his continuous support and excellent videos all these years which you can see here in www.allaboutshipping.co.uk – search and enjoy!
