Panamaxes retain the BDI “firm” as Capes fall, Geos messy and COVID-19 advances dangerously…

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) was up 12 points since yesterday   – thanks to the Panamaxes’ 94 plus points and now stands at 1,475. Geopolitics takes now another twist in East Med / Middle East. Coronavirus (COVID-19) makes waves. John Faraclas’ midweek brief recap:

The Capes’ BCI was down 36 points and now reads 2,458 points…

The Panamaxes BPI goes over and above the 1,400 points threshold standing at 1,410…

Once again, Supras and Handies fall; the BSI was down seven points at 844 and the BHSI down one at 469 points respectively.

The Wets still in dire straits… The last published  BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI  (Cleans) stood at 509 – plus three !!!! and 353 – no change respectively… Still wonder what’s next here…

The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$ 42.32 which is 84 cents higher since last night’s closing at US$ 41.48…

On the Geopolitical front still MIGRANTS the number one issue – now we see double-digit transfers of unaccompanied young children to Central and North Europe from mainly Greece… we need though to see four digit figures to make sense as well as  r e t u r n s !!! We also need to see a complete end to this MIGRANTS MESS as beyond destroying the social cohesion of all countries they enter, many are also “carriers” of other sins and now with COVID-19, deceases! Some are sleeping terrorists… mainly Islamic ones. CAUTION, thorough checks and controls… We continue to maintain our position for a Naval Blockade of the entire  Anatolian Coast of Turkey and North Africa – an opportunity to create Peace in Libya too… and now the time and circumstances are right given the Turkish president’s megalomania and  threats against all of his neighbors, some of which are European Union member states, before being too late… German led Brussels must come down to their senses before they come down to their knees given the Turkish aggression. NATO too. E N O U G H this treatment…

The Beirut despicable massacre yesterday must, at the end of the day, have a positive result for the World at large in whatever really happened. If it’s the fault of the Port Authorities there, then tough: the maximum penalty falling sort of capital punishment… must be imposed. If it is a premeditated murderous act knowingly obtaining the info of the existence of 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate and used for whatever the Jordanian Seismographers recorded yesterday… as 4.5 of the Richter Scale, then expect the fact that the entire region will be back on fire… an all-out war.  CAUTION. Beirut and in general Lebanon has for ages very strong links with Cyprus, France and Greece. Many Greeks still live there with whom we have close links. Many Lebanese too. Edgware Road in London is little Beirut… The death toll until now is 135 and the injured 4,000; there also 300,000 people homeless…

As the region belongs to the faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa, imagine, due to a conflagration the Suez Canal to close and how Shipping will be affected and what will be its response. Remember: there are already ten hot spots! How China will respond? Egypt? Israel? … not to mention Russia! Our position is always firm and there is a possibility to happen…

Europe still in a continuous mess and let’s see how the EU performs…

BREXIT looming in the background.

Interesting developments at the other side of the Atlantic… In the North the forthcoming USA’s election will be the most interesting one…

In the Central and South Latin America things remain pretty much the same. The Recession bites there and we hope we do not see any social upturns which might happen given also the situation with Coronavirus…

Africa remains pretty much the same… time for the big change and an end of too much hype… Watch the continuous super powers proxy wars – trade and economy with to much happening on Africa’s mineral and other resources…

In the Far East, China creates too many problems particularly in the South China Sea and wonder what the USA’s reaction could be. Japan is closely watching…

Putin’s agenda continues; the “de facto” Russian leader calls, for the time, being the shots…

Coronavirus (COVID – 19) might soon bring back lock-downs; CAUTION. Greediness has a limit. Discipline, as we have numerous time said, will save the day. Don’t forget the mask, but equally: the Bautas and Morettas must fall, given the greediness from the politicians and their cronies – see our daily ending para in all our reports…

More news tomorrow.

Have a nice evening but continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.  Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let’s work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 260 (twohundredandsixty) trillion…
