Capes fell but all other Dries’ balancing act saved the day whilst Turkey might rock World Peace
The BDI clinched five points earlier on today and now stands at 1,506. Geopolitics’ twist and turns with Central and East Med in the brink of an all-out war will one day severely punish all those who humiliate the International Law, sovereignty and conversely Greece and Cyprus as in the current situation. Coronavirus begins to turn sour for all. CAUTION ! John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
Minus 26 points for the Capes’ BCI now a 2,375 and losing the 2,400 points threshold…
The Panamaxes’ BPI gained 37 points reaching the 1,600 points mark!
A dozen points for the Supras’ BSI now at 867 points and two points plus for the Handies’ BHSI now reading 473.
Still low levels for the Wets… The last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 503 – minus four and 351 – plus one points respectively… very very low…
The WTI was up 54 cents at US$ 41.97 – from US$ 41.53 last Friday the 7th of August. CAUTION as we need to ensure the WTI remains below the US$ 40 mark.-
The perplexed Geopolitical front and its latest developments will severely affect Shipping and we must all be alerted– in case we have hostilities, is more than enigmatic and if the situation blows up in the Med following the escalation of Turkish provocations against Cyprus and Greece, expect a despicable ending there… which will last more than the current Middle East problem. It is more than evident that German led EU as well as Germany’s handling of the Graeco-Turkish issues, given that German also holds the presidency of the European Union, is shamefully pro-Turkish and one day the shit will hit the fan and German people will end in a mess. We are trying to awaken the German people and others in Europe that one day, the Day of Reckoning as it always happens all through millennia, they will not be able to escape justice for their handling in this Greek – Turkish and Cyprus Turkish situation. The same applies for NATO…
The other adjacent hotspot is Lebanon, Beirut in particular were following last week’s explosion at the Port, despicable events took and continue to take place, above all the resignation of today’s government but the people demand all in the Parliament there to leave. See some important points we raised in our last Friday’s recap.
Both cases above are within the faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa were ten hotspots exist. CAUTION…
At the other side of the Atlantic, particularly in the north, Americans are heavily preoccupied as well as their leaders with the forthcoming USA presidential elections… Wonder who will Biden choose for his number two… AND here was shooting outside the White House according to president Trump statement…
In Central South Latin America situation remains pretty much the same as per our Friday’s coverage… CAUTION.
Belarus election “went” smoothly despite opposition’s claims… Holding the keys of power is more than important… This is the lesson opposition leader Svetlana Tihkanovskaya must ;learn so next time she can win Alexander Lukashenko who won yesterday’s election with an overwhelming majority…
Mind the situ in Hong Kong…
Also be ready for surprises in the South China Sea between the USA and China…
Coronavirus COVID-19 anathema continues to spread as we still lack of discipline and once again the politicians made it yet another mess for a fistful of Dollars… As we have said, the second wave is on… ULTRA CAUTION should be observed. Let the Medical people do their job… It’s not the Economy Stupid…. It’s all about Life that counts mostly STUPID!!!
On another note and tone:
Following last month’s announcement by the Chios Marine Club, we had yesterday on the Island of Chios, Eastern Aegean Sea in Greece, an environmental gathering organised by the local office of the Municipality of Vrontados to clean-up Kleidou’s area took place. Over 150 people joined including many youngsters. The event was also supported in cooperation of the Union of Vrontadoussians in Attica, the Chios Marine Club and was under the direction of OMIKRON, a volunteers team; well done! For the importance of such initiatives, Mrs M. Pelantis from the Municipality of Vrontados’ local office, Mr G. Gialas from EVAT – Union of Vrontadoussians in Athens and Captain Antonis Ch. Pitsilos, the newly elected president of the Chios Marine Club, delivered respective short statements to the media. Well done as a great number of garbage was collected; a very good clean up!
Nearby at the Saint Makarios chapel in Vrontados, a memorial service took place in honour of members of the Vrontadoussian Union in Attica who have passed away, mainly seafarers.
Metropolitan Markos of Chios, Psara and Innousses officiated assisted by father Yioryis Poulias.
Present as always the president of EVA (EBAT) Yiannis Gialas, the vice president Yiannis Kotsanis and former president Mrs Angela Vasilakis. We also spotted FOB’s president Polidoros Stiros, the former Mayor of Vrontados Aristides Zanikos and Pantelis Saliaris of the local municipal office.
On the Island of Spetses now, just off Piraeus and in particular at the Gardens of Anargirios and Korgialenios School of Spetses we had an excellent performance – announced here last July, with greek acclaimed actor and director Yioryos Kimoulis and Fotini Baxevani– directed and revised by Kimoulis himself on Alexander Gelman’s “Red Romance”… Very touching for Kimoulis and for many Spetsiots at the audience the fact that Kimoulis partly emanates from Spetses and the locals present gave him a long and lasting applaud. It was also the first time for Kimoulis performing in Spetses. Among the spectators the Mayor of Spetses Panayiotis Lirakis and Noni Dounia, an MP for Piraeus A’ constituency from Greece’s governing party of Nea Demokratia. Remember: All you need is love, love, love..
Congratulations to the AKSS Foundation for organising the event and in particular its Executive Committee secretary-general, as it was on all counts a success, given the difficult circumstances we live in; excellent!
And a last minute sudden sad announcement: just learned that earlier on today, the former president of the Chios Marine Club, Constantinos Vassiliades, a naval architect, heading for years the Greek Shipping Ministry’s Merchant Ships Inspectorate Office, passed away. Our sincere condolences to his family. He was also my neighbor and a good friend always with a smile. He will be greatly missed.
Have a nice evening but continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let’s work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 260 (twohundredandsixty) trillion…
