Modifications to Transit Reservation System Rules for Neopanamax vessels

Effective October 15, 2020, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) announces the following modifications to the Transit Reservation System Rules for Neopanamax vessels.

TEMPORARY CHANGE TO OPENING AND CLOSING DATES OF BOOKING PERIODS 1.A AND 2
Booking Period 2 for Neopanamax vessels will open 14 days prior to the booking date, instead of 21 days. This change will also modify the duration of Booking Period 1.a, which will extend from 80 days to 15 days prior to the booking date, and will remain in effect until further notice. Applications for reserved slots for Booking Period 2 beginning October 15, 2020, will be received beginning at 0900 hours Thursday, October 1, 2020.

MODIFICATION TO LNG CANCELLATION SURCHARGE
The cancellation surcharges for LNG vessels will be applied, in addition to the regularcancellation charges, in the following manner:

LNG vessels that cancel their booking between 80 and 31 days from their booked date will be assessed the additional cancellation surcharge as per Marine Tariff item #1050.0508.
LNG vessels that cancel their booking between 30 and 15 days from their booked date will be charged the additional LNG cancellation surcharge as per Marine Tariff item #1050.0509.
LNG vessels that cancel their booking with less than 15 days and do not arrive at Canal waters for transit within 7 days of the booked date, or LNG vessels that do not cancel their booking, but fail to arrive within 7 days of their booked date, will be assessed the cancellation surcharge as per Marine Tariff item #1050.0510, in addition to the regular cancellation fee. Otherwise, the cancellation surcharge will not be assessed.
The 0.5 transit reduction in the transit portion of the customer ranking will be applied if the vessel fails to arrive within the next 7 days of the booked date.
