The BDI@1,314 amid explosive Geopolitics whilst Coronavirus make waves
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) managed to go over and above the 1,300 points earlier on today, a ray of “hope” in these turbulent days for global shipping within an economy in a full swing recession. The Wets continue to be a stumbling block whilst the Coronavirus anathema “thrives” against humans and damages the economy due to the absence of Discipline and Responsibility by the public and mainly by politicians. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The BDI gained 18 points since the 18th of September thanks to all other dry indices but mainly by the BCI…
The Capes’ BCI was up 40 points and now reads 1,940…
The Panamaxes’ BPI gains were minimal, but everything positive counts; six points plus and now same stands at 1,321.
The Supras’ BSI was up nine points and now stands at 950…
Finally the BHSI’s Handies were up three points at 561.
Let’s hope we see some better days from all indices…
The Wets still down; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 439 – minus two and 419 – no change respectively. CAUTION!!!!
The WTI fell, thanks to …Poseidon, at US$39,795 which is US$ 1,079 lower since Friday the 18th of September when the WTI was above the US$ 40 mark at US$ 40,876. Excellent news!
The Geopolitical situation got worse and it’s about time we :

One way or another halt here and now Erdogan’s and his backers despicable policies which will rock Peace all over Planet Ocean… The Business Hooligans side with Erdogan’s Turks and his likes… There is too much hype Mrs. Merkel… We live in 2020… Wake up or resign Frau Merkel… Turks are using any possible dirty mean coupled with deceit and blackmail, not to mention religion. Indeed we all know that all through the last 250 years, Germany has been pro Ottoman, pro Turkish… including the last 205 years (1815) and ever since 1871… Greece and Cyprus Mrs Merkel, like Germany are members of the European Union whilst Turkey is NOT, and as you know better than us, will never become. Greece’s and Cyprus EEZ is European Union’s EEZ; NEVER forget this! We are very CAUTIOUS as Erdogan might opt for nasty developments and your goodself as well as NATO are full responsible. Turkey proves to be a totally unreliable NATO member…
On another note people in Greece witnessed the terrible effects of the Ianos hurricane… The Ionian islands, Karditsa region, Rio (at the Gulf of Corinth) and other places become victims…

All in all be careful in whatever happens within the faulty line between Gib and Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa!!! Mind the Islamist Terrorists. Pushing Iran too might be counter-productive given also the position the EU and others take on sanctions versus the USA…
At the other side of the Atlantic the fight for the Oval Office in the White House continues. This time whoever wins has to adapt with a new America and a new order on Planet Ocean. Trump or Biden have to change everything! On a sad note Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg head of USA’s Supreme Court passed away last Saturday at 87. Astute, Outspoken and Passionate she defended civil liberties, women’s rights and the rule of law!!! An idol for all Women! Blessed!
In Central and South Latin America things remain unchanged and we expect explosive situation, particularly due to the prolonged financial hardship… Caution over Bolivia; there is a need for a good president… Venezuela might slide in chaos… If investigators fully prove crimes against humanity expect hell…
In the Subcontinent and the Far East watch-out for unpleasant developments; social issues in the subcontinent brings society backwards – 200 years and ensure you are well shield from any USA – China conflict – even hostilities in the South China Sea…
Africa needs help to short out corruption… Mind the proxy business wars and also mind Ethiopia.
On the Coronavirus: Blame the Politicians and their failed views to allow the economy, by letting people go back even to a ten centum “normality”. The result is over 30 million cases and nearly a million death and more economic chaos… Wait to see what’s next to come…
All in all, all the above issues affect and will affect the Shipping Industry. So mind the dire straits such as Suez… or the Straits of Bosporus… Do arrange to make life easy for Seafarers vis-a-vis Crew Changes. Don’t be inhumane!!!

Let’s work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 270 (twohundredandseventy) trillion…
