Another shock for the BDI; Geopolitics coupled with Coronavirus will produce a lethal cocktail

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) begun the week with a considerable fall; a loss of 68 points since last Friday the 16th of October 2020 and now stands at 1,409,  a fraction of losing the 1,400 points threshold, all this “thanks” to yet another triple-digit fall of the Capes. The Geopolitical spectrum – particularly in the faulty line between Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucasus down to the Horn of Africa due to the erratic, provocative and blackmail orientated Turkish behavior, will witness an all-out war of incalculable repercussions. Coronavirus will overspread creating havoc in all five continents and coupled with Geopolitics including the worse ever Recession, will cause only deaths everywhere – from natural, technical, medical and economic deaths. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The Capes’ BCI was down 187 points and now reads 2,219 – losing also the 2,400 and 2,300 points thresholds and might lose tomorrow the 2,200 one! Wonder what’s next…

Minus 25 points for the Panamaxes’ BPI now at 1,298, losing the 1,300 points threshold.

Good news for both the Supras and Handies; the BSI and BHSI remained at 976 and 599 points respectively…

Mixed feelings for the Wets; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 420 – plus three and 350 – minus five points respectively. Still very low with whatever this entails.

The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$ 40.70 – four cents lower from last Friday’s closing…

MIGRANTS still the number one issue. The mess near Paris was the work of a Chechen migrant… CAUTION as we might see a multi back-clash. I guess Europe will saw soon zero tolerance and harsh revenge, so in my humble view there must be a leap forward by all involved to avoid an upturn from both sides of the equation. Extremism should end forthwith, provocations too.

Due to Coronavirus we have a reduced “service” from traffickers and others all over the Med… CAUTION though as some pariah state leaders might push it forward again…

Mind the provocative aggression by Turkey against all in the region – around 1,500 miles from Turkey’s frontiers; mind also Turkey’s backers…  As for the EU we express our dismay for the pathetic staunch… headed by Germany. With verbal condemnations, warnings and wishful thinking you just open the appetite of the Turks. I have inherited from my family a maxim: “ Even if the Turk becomes a Saint, never worship him” (Ο Τουρκος κ’Αγιος να γενη, μη τονε προσκυνήσης). Do try to get and interpret the message! An ultra-untrusted nation, now even betraying NATO! Armenia, Cyprus, Greece, Syria to name but a few nations are being bullied, not to mention the Kurds, spread in four countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. 18 (eighteen) million people being denied to have a state! Imagine how cheap and under the stairs are the Brussels politicians allowing still the occupation of 33 centum of the Republic of Cyprus by Turkey, the violation of Greece’s and Cyprus’ sea and air space from a pariah state willing to become a member of the European Union! These are European Union lands and seas. This is what is known here in the United Kingdom: “somebody is calling a fast one”. Nemesis though NEVER forgets.

BREXIT rises further and …mind the gap…

The EU in disarray on all fronts…

At the other side of the Atlantic we all wonder for the final tactics and the final sprint for the Oval Office. Bidened Trump?

Central and South America still in a mess; watch out Venezuela… As for the other nations there, still in the mud..

China still causes turbulations in the Far East and let’s see what will happen after the USA’s presidential elections… South China Sea will be another theatre of mess and confrontations…

Africa must get its act together and get protected from the Chinese invasion and proxy wars…

New Zealand as we predicted and hinted last Friday has now a leader with an overwhelming majority. Congrats to Jacinda Arden!

More geopolitics tomorrow.

On the Coronavirus anathema, expect the worse. There is a fat chance for the politicians to agree in a coherent policy. Let’s hope though…

On another one and note it is our deep regret to advise you of two close friends, compatriots and shipping people who just passed away; Mrs Matrona (Mati) Egon – Xylas, one of Planet Ocean’s most humble philanthropist and Costis G. Los both emanating from the Island of Chios… Our condolences to their families – will revert with respective obituaries.

Have a nice evening  ensuring you continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean.  Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let’s work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 270 (twohundredandseventy) trillion…-
