Highlights : Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Award 2020: The Port of Hamburg again honored as “Best Seaport – Europe”
  • The Port of Hamburg was chosen as the “Best Seaport – Europe” by the readers of the trade paper Asia Cargo News on 9 November 2020. This is the fifth time that the Port of Hamburg has received this award from Asia Cargo News..
  • The voestalpine Steel Division imports coal and ore via the Port of Hamburg. A novel concept developed by ILG Innovative Logistics Group on behalf of Logistik Service GmbH (LogServ) allows 20-foot containers to be loaded into bulk wagons for export. The containers are loaded with steel products, e.g. coils and heavy plates, destined for China or South Africa. A total of 68 containers are transported by this rail service that runs once a week between Linz and Hamburg.
  • Hamburg Port Authority and Tanger Med Port Authority signed a Letter of Intent to form a partnership. Both Hamburg Port Authority and Tanger Med Port Authority hold strong leadership positions in their respective regions and pursue common goals within the framework of port cooperation – including port management, logistics and the digitalization of trade.
  • Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has established its own intermodal company in Ukraine. The new Ukrainian Intermodal Company (UIC) offers container transport by rail between the Port of Odessa and important economic centres in the country.
  • The People’s Republic of China is the most important trading partner of the Port of Hamburg. In 2019 alone, around 2.6 million TEUs were handled in seaborne trade. Almost one-third of all containers passing through Germany’s largest seaport have China as their destination or origin.
