The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 19 points since yesterday and now stands at 1,134. In the Geopolitical arena everybody is preoccupied for a certain war. Coronavirus anathema is teaching us the harsh reality. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The Capes’ BCI was up 16 points and now stand at 1,430…
The Panamaxes’ BPI surpassed the 1,300 points and now reads 1,326 – up 35!
Supras’ BSI “finally” did it and it is now over and above the 900 points threshold at 915 – up 15!
Coming up and hopefully surpassing soon the 600 points threshold the Handies’ BHSI now standing at 598 – up five points!
So all in all the Dry Indices point upwards and hope is there.
Boxships do well; for a change, a reason to smile…
The Wets too, although still very low, managed to clinch some valuable points; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 437 – up six and 346 – up one respectively…
The WTI was up eight cents and now reads US$ 41.72. C A U T I O N!

Did I hear you say Environment? 2020? 2030? 2050? eh!
On the Coronavirus anathema the world of Science says the Vaccine might do the trick, but until it does we wonder how well logistics will work. We will be faced with a Herculean task… This is an enigmatic situation as, although Vaccines’ clinical trials, even in a hurry seem highly promising, will they be effective following its use? And what about immunity? How long same will last? A year, five years, ten years or indefinitely? And what about mutations? Being an optimist, I hope, if all goes well that by 2022, 7 (seven) billion people will be vaccinated in two doses. Add logistics and in the meantime the response of the public and the economy, an economy within the worse ever recession… are we going to return to a certain normality? Is there any population elimination “project” on, being also the worse case scenario? It’s already written on the wall… Finally, let us all be disciplined as citizens and our politicians responsible. We are at War, never ever forget this!!! Meantime we urge all to respect Seafarers and ease Crew Changes… Do on and off Lockdowns work? We are living in interesting times.
After all and given all the above, Shipping for the very, very, very few approaches…

We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let us work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red US$ 275 (twohundredandseventyfive) trillion.-
