Paillette Palaiologou, Vice President of Marine & Offshore Division of Bureau Veritas for the Hellenic, Black Sea and Adriatic zone,

Paillette Palaiologou, Vice President of the Marine & Offshore Division of Bureau Veritas for the Hellenic, Black Sea and Adriatic zone, could be called the beating heart of the Piraeus office of the multinational Bureau Veritas Group, an organisation that counts more than 190 years in testing, inspection and certification.

Born and raised in Athens, Paillette Palaiologou studied Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the University of Glasgow, graduating with honours, and obtained her master’s Science degree at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne – Department of Marine Technology in 1993.

During her studies she completed an internship at Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, where she also worked for two summers.

Upon her graduation she started her professional career at Oceanbulk Maritime S.A. in 1993int the Technical Department and in 1999 she was appointed Head of Hull & Classification Division.. Among her duties and responsibilities were the planning and supervision of ship repairs and drydocking of vessels of Oceanbulk’s fleet, the development, implementation and monitoring of the fleet’s hull maintenance and scheduled repairs and monitoring of all classification, flag and Ssfety matters.

In 2005 she joined Bureau Veritas as a Marine Centre surveyor and in 2007 she was promoted to Delegate of the Marine Centre Manager.

In 2013 she was appointed Sales, Marketing & Business Development Manager for the Hellenic & Black Sea Region and in 2015 she served as Marine Marketing & Sales Director for the Marine & Offshore Division at the Head Office of Bureau Veritas. During the two years she served in this position in Paris she travelled around the world for the establishment of commercial deals, visited regularly major shipbuilding countries that were constructing vessels for the company’s clients and worked on sensitive projects such as collaboration with Iranian companies.

In January 2017 Paillette Palaiologou was appointed Vice President, Regional Chief Executive for the Hellenic & Black Sea Region, and since July 2018 she serves as Vice President, Hellenic, Black Sea & Adriatic Zone, located in Piraeus.

Professionally, Paillette Palaiologou is a passionate and dedicated person. As she has stated in the past: “Shipping is a tough business; but we know that it is more than a business. For us, it is a way of life.”
