Joe Hughes, Chairman & CEO Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., Managers for THE AMERICAN CLUB
JULY 15, 2021 CIRCULAR NO. 16/21 TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION Dear Member: PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS (PEME) AND COVID-19: AN UPDATE
The significant restrictions on shipowners’ ability to perform regular crew changes, due to COVID-19, continue to be a challenge for the maritime community.
As a result, and superseding the previous policy notified in Circular 12/21 of June 2, 2021, your Managers are further extending the validity of American Club PEME certificates to September 1, 2021 for seafarers originating from Bulgaria, India, Indonesia, Latvia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation and Ukraine who: 1) currently hold valid American Club PEME certificates which have expired, or which are due to expire prior to September 1, 2021; and 2) are currently deployed onboard a vessel entered for P&I cover with the Club.
Any requests for exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Managers, and will require their prior approval. As always, the Managers will be pleased to respond to all inquiries arising from the above.
Please direct all declarations and inquiries to Dr. William Moore, Head of Global Loss Prevention at: William.moore@american-club.com.
Yours faithfully,
Joseph E.M. Hughes, Chairman & CEOShipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., Managers for THE AMERICAN CLUB
