New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022: All You Need to Know

by Elena Sendona

This New York Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2022 collections will be “almost normal” although hygiene protocols and vaccine certifications are the minimum requirements for attendants and organizers. It takes place from February 11th-16th and it includes the greatest number of in-person, physical shows taking place over the last two years, since that last glorious pre-pandemic season, the NYFW Fall/Winter 2020 Collections! As you can see in the CFDA Fashion Calendar, its first two runway shows are Bronx and Banco at 1 pm, and Proenza Schouler at 4 pm and 5 pm on February 11th. The whole NYFW extravaganza is also sprinkled with other fashion presentations (physical and digital) of established and up-and-coming designers, as well as fashion parties and other related events. As it happens lately, the main venue is Spring Studios in Soho along with many other satellite or independent venues, indoor and outdoor spaces across NYC. In light of an evolved event format and new capacity regulations, IMG organizing the largest volume of the events will not be credentialing media (including photographers and videographers) for NYFW: The Shows in February 2022. Credentials or invites will be given to press representatives by each designer’s team.

On February 12th, the schedule includes among other runway shows, Jason Wu (1 pm), Christian Siriano (6 pm), Brandon Maxwell (8 pm), and Eckhaus Latta (9 pm).

On February 13th, it features runway shows by designers such as Ulla Johnson (10 am), Khaite (1 pm), Sergio Hudson (7 pm), and Altuzarra (8 pm).

On February 14th, fashion insiders will attend shows by the likes of Carolina Herrera (10 am), Coach (2 pm), Markarian (1 pm), Tory Burch (6 pm), and Dion Lee (9 pm).

On February 15th, stay tuned for more NYFW runway shows by Gabriela Hearst (12 pm), Bibhu Mohapatra (2 pm), and Peter Do (4 pm).

On the 16th, this season’s NYFW finale takes place with FW22 runway shows by Claudia Li (11 am), Prabal Gurung (3 pm), and The Blonds (7 pm).

Industry heavyweights and NYFW favorites who opted for digital activation/live streaming concepts include Tanya Taylor (2/11, 11 am), Area (2/13, 12 pm), Dennis Basso (2/13, 3 pm), Et Ochs (2/14, 10 am), Badgley Mischka (2/15, 11 am), Anna Sui (2/15, 5 pm), and Pamella Roland (2/16, 5 pm). We are also looking forward to digital activation by up-and-coming brand Loring (2/15, 2 pm).

Designers who will do appointments instead of a runway show or presentation are: Helmut LangVeronica Beard3.1 Phillip Lim, and Jonathan Simkhai.

Michael Kors will live stream his in-person runway show while Tom Ford will not showcase during the NYFW but later release a digital look book. Thom Browne will showcase on April 29th, 2022.

We are also excited for in-person presentations by fashion names like Perry Ellis (2/11), Herve Leger (2/11, 2 pm), and Alice + Olivia (2/12, 5 pm).

Stay tuned for more of our NYFW coverage as we will be analyzing and reviewing designer by designer, piece by piece, and every trend on the map!
