The Dry surge continues, whilst Wets fall amid Ukrainian despicable and inhumane mess…

The BDI (Baltic Dry index) gained another 117 points since yesterday and now stands at 2,352 surpassing also the 2,300 points threshold. Surprisingly enough both Dirty and Cleans fell. The despicable and inhumane situation in Ukraine MUST end as otherwise will spread… Expect mess. Europe has to become fully self-sustain in energy; end of the story, no excuses please.- Covid still remains a real threat. John Faraclas’ brief Market and Geopolitical recap:
The Capes’ BCI surpassed the 1,800 points threshold and now reads 1,896 – up 147!
Excellent performance by the Panamaxes’ BPI going over and above the 3,000 points threshold at 3,041 – up 140!
Supras’ BSI added nearly 100 points surpassing also the 2,700 points threshold and now reads 2,733 – up 93…
Minimal but positive rise for the Handies’ BHSI now standing at 1,485 – up 18 points…
What a surprise fall that was with the Wets; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,424 – minus 93 and 1,049 – minus 22 points respectively; no further …”comment”; tomorrows result holds the key…
The WTI stood at US$ 123.70 – up US$ 4.30 since yesterday; despicable, but tomorrow it is another day… CAUTION. We must see the WTI down to US$ 49,99; end of the story.-
Stock Markets are doing well despite the Ukrainian mess, and will do better…
In the Geopolitical front, we need to end this theatre of the absurd in Ukraine as well as tackling the energy jargon… Shame as the death toll multiplies including children and babies among the civilians and the energy issue proves that Europe and in particular, the EU does not have a coherent policy so it becomes self-sustain on energy…
In general we are very cautious as we believe that the forthcoming meeting in Antalya, Turkey on 10 March between the Foreign Secretaries of Russia and Ukraine, following a mediation by Turkey, will fail given the demands from both sides and Europe’s inability to intervene by all diplomatic and financial dynamics. Can the USA assist EU and contribute to a long term Peace before we see the worse? China MUST understand that its current stance doesn’t contribute to Peace.
Beware of Turkey too; its president, an opportunistic Follie de grandeur, might strike in the Central, East Med region destabilise the Balkans and the Middle East. We do not see or observe any means of Mr. Erdogan respecting International Law, Human Rights and UNCLOS.-
Let’s see how Sanctions and counter sanctions work; I wonder…
The Media MUST also become more serious and spin doctors following the fiascos in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria – to name but a few cases, must grow up… Enough of childish behaviour whilst the civilians death toll including young children and babies is on the rise and people become MIGRANTS en mass leaving their homelands; E N O U G H! Remember, Nemesis always strikes without any hint! Mind the Seafarers; you have been warned!
On Covid: too early to relax procedures. Wonder how we will tackle long Covid… Let the Medical World run this mess, NOT the Politicians… Check the daily new cases and see what might turn sour again… Ultra caution should be observed. Wonder what’s happening in Ukraine as well as to the adjacent and other countries where just over wo million people migrated…
On another tone and note, today we celebrate the International Womens Day and hope Women can create Peace. We MUST see though a very strong statement condemning this current inhumane mess in Ukraine. Read Aristophanes’ Lycistrata; the solution is there… unless you wish to live in a cynical world under the maxim: “War Father of All; if you don’t destroy, you cannot rebuild” being History’s pitiful message… Abandon Wishful Thinking… The End is Nigh!
Ah! lastly: what sort of Tourism and Maritime Tourism we expect this year? Eh!!!
Have a nice evening but continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. As for the mess in Ukraine, you have not seen anything yet as well as its spread… Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let us work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is in red over US$ 350 (three hundredandfifty) trillion…
