UK Maritime Mission 2022 The UK pavilion is now fully subscribed, but there are still spaces on the UK trade mission with partial funding available. This will cover Indo-Pacific, and then visit Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. There will be engagement with State governments, visits to the BAE Systems Osborne shipyard and ASC Pty submarine yard, engagement with industry, and business-business matching. It really is an exciting programme – and the State Governments are pulling out all the stops.

Contact Tim here > Nor-Shipping 2022 The Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) will be exhibiting at Nor-Shipping, Oslo, during 4-7th April 2022, in Hall D stand D05-10.
Helen Stephen, Business Development Director, will be representing SMI who are organisers of the UK Pavilion and Group at the event. Joining SMI in the Pavilion are Rivertrace, market leaders of oil in water monitors for the maritime sector and Rab Microfluidics, who have developed cutting-edge microfluidic technology to solve oil analysis problems.
SMI will also be partnering with the UK Department of International Trade and the recently launched UK Shipping Concierge to deliver The UK Business Lounge – a support and meeting hub for maritime organisations who are looking to trade into and out of the UK. The Business Lounge also provides space for consulting, technology development and research specialists, BMT, CyberSHIP Lab and Ecomar Propulsion who will be showcasing their capabilities and expertise at the event.

Contact Helen here > EURONAVAL 2022 EURONAVAL 2022, the biennial International Naval Defence & Maritime Exhibition and Conference, will take place from 18 to 21 October 2022 at the Le Bourget Exhibition and Conference centre in Paris. Supported by the French Ministry of Defence and the French Navy, it is the major naval and maritime defence exhibition in Europe in the alternate years to the DSEI exhibition in the UK.
The Society of Maritime Industries is organising and managing the UK Group of exhibitors in an area of the hall dedicated exclusively to UK companies. The UK Pavilion attracts visitors and international delegations are expected.
The report makes eight key recommendations which focus collective action: – Clarify which body is leading on port skills – More joint working within the ports and maritime sector to drive improvements in diversity – Undertake a systematic review of how skills are used now, and anticipated changes in skills/job requirements in the future – ‘Eating the elephant’ a mouthful at a time – focused best practice sharing and ‘sprints’ – Investigate priority near-term skills gaps/shortages, including learning lessons from other sectors – Develop more proactive approaches to upskilling, reskilling, and retraining the current workforce – Working together to inform a better skills policy and funding landscape – Developing the HR capability across the sector
