The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) went over and above the 3,300 points and now reads 3,344, thanks once again for the Capes’ excellent performance; the Wets remain an enigma. The war in Ukraine will spread in a multiple of ways and coupled with Recession and health issues – Covid and possibly Monkeypox will produce a …lethal cocktail with uncontrollable repercussions for all. John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recaps:
The BDI was also 240 points higher since last week’s 3,104 points; good to see the 3,200 – 3,300 thresholds conquered!
The Capes’ BCI was up 141 points since yesterday and now reads 4,526, which is also 579 points up since last week’s 3,947. The 4,000 to 4,500 points threshold also conquered bringing a renewed euphoria…
The Panamaxes’ BPI was also up 12 points at 3,382 and on a weekly basis managed nearly 100 points plus – actually 99 since last week’s 3,283…
Supras with a modest 18 points saw the BSI at 2,816 – up 64 since last week when same stood at 2,752…
A minor fall for the Handies’ BHSI was recoded – down two points at 1,662; on a weekly basis the BHSI lost 11 points – from 1,673…
The Wets with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,111 – up 10 and 1,465 – up four points respectively… On a weekly basis though the Dirties were down 22 – from 1,133 and the Cleans up 17 – from 1,448 points respectively… Still an enigmatic situation…
The WTI was up 39 cents since yesterday at US$ 110.28… On a weekly basis, despite some ups and downs – strange fluctuations… the WTI was down 21 cents – from US$ 110.49… Once again we stress for an immediate …return down to a maximum of US$ 49.99 or else… Expect messy public revolts…
On the Geopolitical front the war in Ukraine is here to stay AND same will spread. You haven’t seen anything yet. We have all along expressed our views written and live on TV and reiterate same.
Turkey will also make things worse in the Balkans, Central East Med and parts of the Middle East. It is about time the USA and NATO as well as the EU reprimand Turkey once and for all. Turkey is NOT a reliable partner. Turkey has been the champion of blackmail for centuries now; time to saw zero tolerance. Enough! We would like to welcome asap Sweden and Finland in our NATO family.
The Greek PM set the record straight during his memorable visit in Washington; it was about time for the Congress and the House of Representatives to hear something unique for Peace in the region (Balkans, central and East Med AND beyond) and what is needed.
We are going to face tough times ahead with Energy issues, Inflation, Food shortages and above all we are amid a monumental and worsening Recession. Obviously, tough times never last, but tough people do.
Watch out China’s proxy war by using North Korea’s missiles to derail Peace in the Far East and Pacific.
Let’s hope the newly elected Australian PM gets tough on China…
Moreover, MIGRANTS – the number one issue which all through www.allaboutshipping.co.uk life we have explicit and “provocatively” marked as the number one all over Planet Ocean, surpassed the 100,000,000, a shameful figure for humanity, an issue which will create more despicable and uncontrolable issue.
Mind Covid; it’s NOT over; See you in late September…; mind the Monkeypox too…
Posidonia 2022 is coming up and hope to see you all 6-10 June at the Exhibition but also to the many Conferences and social events which begin a week before!!!
Have a nice evening and weekend but continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Once again a big THANK YOU to all who really care for all humans – Doctors, Nurses, Seafarers, Dockers, Port Authorities et al during this Coronavirus disaster!! We repeat: Do please invest in Hospitals including Equipment, Doctors, Nurses and any useful means to avoid further disasters! Become more disciplined and care for the Environment too. As for the mess in Ukraine, you have not seen anything yet as well as its spread… Lastly: Education and Training for all to be able to tackle these disasters. Let us work collectively together and NOT opt for a fistful of Dollars to restart the already collapsed global economy… which is now approaching the US$ 400 (four hundred) trillion…
