AUGUST 1, 2022 CIRCULAR NO. 20/22 TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION

Dear Member:

MANAGEMENT NEWS
On August 11, 2022, John Wilson will be leaving his role as Director of Technical Services at the Managers’ Hong Kong office to return with his family to his native England.

A forty years’ veteran of the maritime industry, John spent his first fifteen years at sea before coming ashore to live and work in Hong Kong twenty-five years ago. He joined the Hong Kong management team in 2014 to provide technical assistance to both the American Club’s Members and its Eagle Ocean Marine (EOM) Insureds.

His outstanding expertise and attention to detail have characterized John’s service to those constituencies across a wide range of survey, loss prevention and training activity in respect of which he was also a frequent contributor to Club seminars and broader industry events. He departs with his colleagues’ – and the market’s – great appreciation for his exceptional contribution to the Club’s and EOM’s business over the years.

In bidding farewell to John, and in order to provide a seamless transition of service in this area, your Managers are pleased to announce that Captain Gautam Ramaswamy, the current Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, will be joining their Hong Kong office as the new Director of Technical Services later in the year.

A master mariner by background, Capt. Ramaswamy began his maritime career in 2000 and brings with him a wealth of experience in seafaring, ship operations, technical management and maritime regulatory affairs. He holds an executive MBA and is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute and a committee member of its Hong Kong branch. Capt. Ramaswamy is also an Associate Fellow at the Royal Institute of Navigation and serves as Secretary of the Ship Insurance and Liability Committee (SILC) of the Asian Shipowners’ Association.

Members will no doubt join the Managers in wishing John and his family a very happy return to the United Kingdom, and in warmly welcoming Capt. Ramaswamy to his new role in the expectation that he will enjoy every success over the years ahead.
Yours faithfully,
Dorothea Ioannou, CEO
