Last Friday, a delegation of the Board of Directors of the Chios Marine Club, visited the Director-General of the Greek Merchant Marine Ships Inspection Directorate, Rear Admiral (HCG) George Skandalis at the Shipping Ministry of Greece in Piraeus.
The Board of Directors was represented by its president Capt. Antonis Ch. Pitsilos, vice president Makis Kasmas, Treasurer Panagiotis Kamarados and Member Epaminondas Banos. The meeting was a continuation of the visit paid to the Minister of Shipping Ioannis Plakiotakis last July 2022.
Among other things, proposals were discussed to improve the cooperation between the Greek Flag with Shipping Companies and Classification Societies, such as the issuance of certificates in electronic format and general modernization. The updating of services according to the requirements and technological developments of the market, the need for rationalization, the updating and digitization of the relevant legislation and regulations, as well as the immediacy in responding to requests from interested parties.
The Director-general fully understands the issues that concern Shipping Companies and ships under the Greek Flag. It is worth noting his very positive approach regarding the effort to continuously improve the services and also the constructive cooperation with the taxonomists.
The Chios Marine Club with its Board of Directors and Members fully supports Rear Admiral (HCG) George Skandalis and his work.
