YSA for high-end Norwegian Prima
Interior spaces from YSA Design on board Norwegian Prima, the first in Norwegian Cruise Lines’ new Prima class of vessels, offer a break with traditional cruise ship aesthetics. Aboard the 294-metre passenger ship, YSA’s work brings a look and feel more reminiscent of a modern, high-end hotel to two dining establishments, the forward and aft public stairs and lift lobbies and the public toilets. Jan Krefting appointed YSA Design chair
YSA Design has appointed Jan Krefting as its new chairman in a move timed to take greater advantage of collective working. Having seen a recent upturn in concept and project work from the cruise industry, the company will benefit from Jan’s 35 years’ experience and collaborative approach in interpreting owner aspirations and converting them into elegant and practical designs. YSA lends expertise to The World refit
As the largest private residential ship on the planet, The World offers 165 luxury apartments housing full- and part-time residents from around the globe. The 196-metre vessel recently underwent extensive refitting works at Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain, including the refurbishment of public spaces on decks 5, 6 and 11 by YSA Design.
Having been part of The World’s design process from the beginning, YSA is also one of several interior designers to have styled the vessel’s custom-designed homes. For a glimpse of life on board The World, take a look inside a resident’s apartment.

YSA Design sets mood as MSC vessel embarks with ‘future in mind’
Built ‘with the future in mind’, MSC World Europa is a modern, first-in-class vessel with an emphasis on sustainable operations. The 7,000-guest capacity ship is the first in the MSC fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas, also featuring a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) demonstrator, a ‘Baltic standard’ advanced wastewater treatment system (AWTS) and an engine room designed to minimise underwater sound.
