In the context of the efforts for the further development of Piraeus as an international shipping center for the supply of high level services to shipping the “Piraeus Association for Maritime Arbitration” (PAMA) was established in 2005 by private initiative.
Founding members of the PAMA are retired Supreme Court judges, University Professors, Bankers, Maritime Lawyers, Naval Architects/Marine Engineers and other personalities who have been involved with the various aspects of shipping, trading and yachting.
Alternative dispute resolution procedures for maritime disputes are reliable, internationally recognized, producing high quality results at lower cost and within a shorter time than other international arbitrations. Governed by the Maritime Arbitration Rules adopted by PAMA (the Rules), also drafted in accordance with international standards and the UNCITRAL Model Law for International Commercial Arbitration as adopted by Greece.
The development of Maritime Arbitration in Greece and the further development of Piraeus as an international shipping Arbitration/Mediation centre will result in considerable expense savings to ship-owners, charterers, cargo interests and their respective insurers.
Yachting interests expanding in Greece and Short-Sea shipping operators mainly trading in the Mediterranean Sea are invited to select alternative dispute resolution services, both Mediation and Arbitration, by PAMA!
Model arbitration clauses appear at PAMA’s website.
Worthy of note:
The waiting time and the very high cost for similar services abroad
The probability of achieving faster Arbitration and/or Mediation resolutions in Greece
The available excellent International Shipping expertise in Greece
The Piraeus Association for Maritime Arbitration,
Offers a competitive and reliable alternative for the Resolution of Maritime Disputes!
