Further to our last reminder on the 5th of February– which proved more than a timely and beneficial one – the Nuts and Bolts* did it again! After three years’ hiatus due to the Covid mess, the HESGB (Hellenic Engineers Society of Great Britain) was back on …track and on all counts delivered, repeat, delivered its most glamorous and successful event to date in the British capital.

Just over 600 members and guests made it to the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, in central London. Nearly half of the members and guests were non-Greeks and came from all five continents representing diverse shipping activities.
An interesting welcome network drinks reception with good registration attendance, surpassing previous events; a very good start to the evening.

On time more or less we were ushered down to the Great Room to witness the best-ever HESGB event.

A brief and to the point welcome speech by HESGB’s president Dimitris N. Monioudis; a well organised charity collection and raffle ticket sale – most of it was done in advance; the Lykion ton Hellinidon traditional Greek dancing in a performance to be long remembered, the Greatest Showman was a unique performance and one of its dancers MUST, at least be in line for a BAFTA Award – a striking blond with a well-balanced red outfit for the occasion: she outperformed herself if I may say so, and great fun** on la piste de danse both with Greek and international repertoire.

An imperial so-to-speak cover and well-designed layout graced the impressive booklet, a valuable asset for all! The cruise raffle winner for a voyage on the mv Ocean Majesty of Majestic Cruises and other interesting details of this super ball, will soon be uploaded with pictures in our following update! Watch this space!

** Given the end of the Carnival in Venice (21 February), but also the end of the Greek Carnival – last Sunday of the Carnival being 26 February, everybody was more than in ultra-jovial mood.
