I am often asked why we need women’s days – havent women already got all right? However any woman at work trying to get to the next level , every mother making choices between work and home and every woman walking home at night alone, or in strange streets knows that it is not an equal world – as yet.
We see the changes every day and in every way – in small incremental things. One more CEO, one more CFO, one more barrier broken one more glass ceiling cracked. These are all results of years of pushing against the status quo – against patriarchy everywhere we see it and of amplifying women’s voices.
Let’s together celebrate international Women’s Day as it spotlights on at least one day a year all that women have achieved and still have to achieve. Until we reach the dream of true and effective equality- and until we live in a world that has no gender bias, stereotypes or discrimination, we need to keep having one day where we shout out our goal to reach a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.
