Two rotor sails installed on a sea-cargo vessel not only dampen undesirable motion but also save plenty of fuel thanks to wind-assisted propulsion.
When SC Connector was equipped with two DNV-certified Norsepower rotor sails in 2021, the ship changed character. Before the retrofit, the vessel, operating in the North Sea, was prone to heavy rolling in high waves and wind and often had to wait in port for better weather. Today the SC Connector is out at sea when other ships are waiting in port.
Read in our interview with Capt. Sylwestrzak how rotor sails benefit ship operation and fuel efficiency.
