Cementing its strong relationship with the Royal Navy, LISW23 was a proud sponsor of this week’s First SeaLord’s Sea Power Conference 2023, held at Lancaster House and King’s College.
The two-day event, staged in front of a strong international military and merchant navy audience, chose ‘Steel and Steelcraft: Mobilising naval power in a competitive age’ as its theme.
The conference sought to explore prevailing geopolitical issues by engaging in a combination of speeches, panels and conversations in a way which seamlessly incorporated diverse perspectives and backgrounds from across the world.
The First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Ben Key KCB, CBE delivered the welcoming remarks, followed by an address by James Cartlidge MP, Minister for Defence Procurement, and also a keynote speech by Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Minister of State for Indo-Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Writing in the guide to the event, Admiral Sir Ben Key said: “Fifteen months on from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the stark reality is that the world is forever changed. Russia remains an international pariah but persists with its illegal war while others who would seek to challenge the Rules Based International Order are watching very closely.”

The LISW23 Charter Party will take place on Tuesday 12 September, from 8.30pm till late. It is free to attend on a strictly invitation-only basis.
