In today’s Greek general elections, the centre-right wing party of Nea Demokratia, headed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, comfortably won a 40 centum of the vote, double of what his main opponent lefty party Syriza – now down at 20 percent. A second round is now on the cards which will, as things and electoral system suggests, with a 50-seat bonus for the first party, an overwhelming majority for Nea Demokratia.
As of this moment 21:00 BST, out of 59 constituencies and 300 MPs, Nea Demokratia won 58 and 145 MPs respectively.
Will update tomorrow a.m., with the final result.
