Reserve managers adopt a conservative investment approach

Join us at the Global Public Investor launch 2023 where the key findings of the 10th edition of the report will be presented, offering insights into how central banks’ reserve managers are coping with inflationary pressures, geopolitics and ESG imperatives, and what this means for asset allocation, currency diversification and external management.
Reserves managers are relatively conservative investors. Among the 75 respondents to our Global Public Investor 2023 survey, an average of 40% of reserves assets are held in government bonds, 11% in quasi-government bonds and 16% in cash. Amid considerable economic and market uncertainty, respondents signal little intention to diversify towards riskier asset classes.
