The GAC Group has secured the Crew Welfare Service Provider Award at this year’s Safety4Sea Crew Welfare Awards.
The awards ceremony – held virtually marking this week’s Crew Welfare Week – recognised organisations within the maritime industry that foster crew well-being and sustainable shipping.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, GAC monitored the constantly changing regulations and coordinated with authorities, ship owners and operators to find solutions to off-sign crew and get them home safely. It also facilitated testing, vaccinations and quarantine, as well as medical care, emergency evacuations and safe transit of Covid-positive crew, while keeping vessels stocked with vital supplies for those still onboard.
“Crew welfare has always been a priority for GAC and we are grateful for the strong support of our stakeholders who believed in and contributed in one way or another to the same cause,” says GAC’s Group Marketing Manager Maria Angelidou who accepted the award.
“By working as a global community, the maritime sector overcame one of the biggest challenges of recent times. And at GAC, we will continue to do everything in our power to improve seafarers’ wellbeing worldwide.”
