The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) managed to surpass the 1,000 points threshold and now reads 1,110 – 13 points plus since yesterday and 132 plus since last week’s 978 (21/07/2023), bringing some hope in yet another summer of discontent. The Wets still below the psychological level of 1,000 points with the Dirties on a downward mode and the Cleans on an upward one… The Geopolitical chaos continues and be prepared for everything. The Kremlin would not digest – at least for now, any further losses and expect mess and further conflagration in the region… The more Ukrainian fight back, the more Putin’s wrath. A ceasefire MUST be done here and now leading to a square Peace deal. John Faraclas brief daily and weekly recap:

The driving force of the BDI’s rise is mainly the Capes and to a leaser extent the Panamaxes.

The BCI was up 29 points since yesterday and now reads 1,830; on a weekly basis the Capes were up 338 points from last week’s 1,442 gaining the 1,500 to 1,800 points threshold levels.

The Panamaxes’ BPI was up 20 points since yesterday and now reads 975; on a weekly basis the BPI was up 51 points – from 924 last week.

Falling Supras and Handies; the BSI was down seven points since yesterday and now stands at 726. the weekly losses were 32 points – from 758 (21/07)…

The BHSI lost one point and the 400 points threshold and now reads 396; the weekly losses were four points from 400 (21/07).

So all in all a bit of a better overall picture but remember; one or two sizes do not form / make a healthy Dry Market. Obviously we have the Ukrainian mess… so be careful… The hope remain the inland waterways trade (Danube) as well as the Croatian Adriatic Port for Ukraine’s cargoes…

The Wets peculiar with the BDTI and BCTI on an up and down mode. The last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 873 – minus eight and 697 – plus 26 points respectively. Note that the Dirties lost the 900 points threshold… The Dirties lost 67 points since last week’s 940 points and the Cleans gained 87 – from 610 (21/07). A strange Wet market…

The WTI gained 49 cents since yesterday and now reads US$ 80.59; on a weekly basis the WTI was up US$ 11.02 (from US$69.56 on 21/07. The US$ 70 and US$ 80 levels were “conquered” CAUTION. One again we reiterate the view that the WTI should be maximum US$ 49.99…

The FTSE 100 was up 1.51 points since yesterday and now reads 7,694.27. Same was up 30.54 points since last week’s 7,663.73. A good overall upwards performance since the 18/07…

The Dow Jones was slightly up, 176.57 points since yesterday and now reads 35,459.29. On a weekly basis the DJ was up 231.60 from 35,227.69 (21/07). Overall the Dow Jones had a good performance since the 07/07 when it stood at 33,734.88 points!

The NIKKEI was slightly down since yesterday and now reads 32,759.23 – minus 131.93. On a weekly basis the NIKKEI was up 454.98 – from 32,759.23 (21/07)

The Euro vs. USDollar parity stood at 1.1035 from 1.0978 yesterday; the weekly score was 0,0097 (1.1132 on 21/07). CAUTION!!!!
