Best Practices in Docking Management (HAMBURG)

DNV’s study “Best practice ship management”, where 80 shipping companies around the world were interviewed, concluded that a 20–30 % cost overrun of the docking budget is rather common in the industry.

Having taught the course Best Practices in Docking Management to shipping companies worldwide over the last 15 years, our experience has shown that most companies make the same fundamental mistakes and are often unaware of them. Shipyards take advantage of these mistakes, at an enormous cost to the maritime industry.

Best Practices in Docking Management is normally a two-day course, but we have also had excellent feedback for our one-day version focusing on essential strategies and the challenges for the company in question.

The course focuses on:

  • How to bring docking costs under control
  • How to manage risk and avoid surprises
  • How to use the contract as a management tool
  • Project management
  • Quality
  • Specification
  • Tools and templates
  • The latest software solutions available
  • Best practice
  • Examples of practical cases
