What a timely event given what happens right now all over Planet Ocean
The kick start of this two day event at Allen & Overy Auditorium with key note speakers stressing the importance of the issues to be discussed, analysed and debated will keep us going for quite a while.
The title of the Symposium: Energy Security and Sustainability in Europe… The Mighty Continent at the forefront and rightly so!

Welcome notes by Costas Mitropoulos, Co-Chair, Greek-British Symposium, Matthew Lodge, His Majesty’s Ambassador to Greece and Yannis Tsaousis, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the UK.

Some the speakers are well known to us and coincidentally they delivered speeches at the 14th Hydra Maritime Conference in mid September – Costis Stambolis for example. Good to see that Konstantinos Bikas, Ambassador (ret), Int’l Business Director, Mytilineos Energy & Metals; former Head, Greek National Intelligence Service is also here. There are a few former ministers speaking too, so we have a … variety of views…
Lastly, all eyes, ears and minds are focusing on Christos Stylianides, the newly appointed Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Hellenic Republic and former EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid & Crisis Management for being Planet Ocean’s number one Shipping Minister – as Greece controls 22 plus centum of World’s tonnage..
The symposium is organised by the British Embassy in Athens and the Embassy of Greece in London, the Delphi Economic Forum and The British Council.
Good to spot the Most Reverend Archbishop Nikita of Thyateira and Great Britain; always present in mega business gatherings…
The London Greek Shipping Fraternity is lead by the ever present Radm (HCG) Kostas Amarantidis, the Director of the GSCC (Greek shipping Co-operation Committee) and BoD member of the HESGB.
