Greece earned two more prestigious awards in the British market, this time at the Ice Travel Group Destination Awards, which were held for the first time this year by the travel group. Greece was voted as the “Favourite Short-haul Beach Destination”, while Crete as the “Favourite Greek Island”, ahead of Rhodes, Kos, Skiathos, and Corfu. The winners in all categories were chosen by a poll of the British public, conducted through Ice Travel Group’s platforms Icelolly.com and TravelSupermarket.com, for the most popular Mediterranean destinations.

Ice Travel Group offers vacations from leading cruise travel companies, city breaks, all-inclusive packages, etc., to 21.6 million users, with 14 Greek regions among the destinations it recommends. The awards ceremony took place in London on October 12, and the Greek awards were accepted by Eleni Skarveli, the Director of the Greek National Tourism Organisation UK & Ireland.

Greece also won the Best Country Award at the News UK Travel Awards 2023, as voted by the readers of The Sun. Greece won the top spot, leaving the USA and Spain in second and third place respectively.

The award ceremony was held in Istanbul on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Eleni Skarveli, the Director of the Greek National Tourism Organisation UK & Ireland, accepted the award on behalf of Greece. The event was attended by 98 guests from the UK, including decision-makers and high-ranking officials from various sectors of the tourism market, such as tour operators, airlines, cruise lines, and journalists from The Times and The Sun.

During the presentation of the award for Greece, a special tribute was paid to the fires in Greece and the residents of Rhodes, who showed remarkable resilience and hospitality to the island’s visitors during the devastating fires of July 2023.

Greece was also voted as Best Country by the readers of The Sun!
