
STRESS versus well-being IN THE WORKPLACE; a guide for managers
In a series of courses that we have designed to help maritime organisations improve human element-related practices, this course aims at enlightening managers on how to effectively tackle workplace stress.
As research confirms, work-related stress can be a major source of ill health, affecting employees and organisations alike. On the other hand, stress can be a source of vitality; stress motivates us to perform at our best. When properly managed, stress can act as a force that promotes employee health, safety and well-being, thus positively impacting performance.
Aim
This training will enlighten managers’ understanding of stress and the factors affecting it in the workplace.
The focus points will be:
- What is stress and how it affects our organism
- Recognizing the signs of stress
- Understand the workplace stress risk factors and evaluate the risks
- Key steps for developing a healthier workplace
Audience:
Shore and ship staff with a managerial or supervisory role who are involved in managing personnel, e.g. managers in general, crew managers, human resource officers, superintendents, marine superintendents/ port captains, masters, chief engineers, senior officers.
