The 11th session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW 11) was held from 10 to 14 February 2025.
HTW 11 agreed on interim generic guidelines for the development of training provisions for seafarers on ships using alternative fuels and technologies, and the development of specific guidelines for ships using methyl/ethyl alcohol as fuel was initiated. A comprehensive revision of the STCW Convention and Code was progressed to address experiences, challenges and technological advancements.
