STCW for Crewing Managers – Live Virtual Classroom
DNV’s Maritime Academy Hellas is offering on 12-13 March 2025 a course on the role of the Crew Manager.
This course reflects the tasks and responsibilities of a crew manager working either in a shipping company or for a crewing agency. A crew manager is required to have a deep understanding of training and certification standards and requirements in order to choose the best qualified personnel and to take appropriate actions during emergencies.
This objective is achieved by analysing a reference crewing process and examining the various challenges that could possibly be faced by the Crew Manager.
Training and Certification will be analysed in detail together with some more general questions relating to familiarisation and training on board.
This course includes practical case studies and interactive exercises to achieve the desired learning outcome for the participants.
Emphasis will be given on:
- STCW Structure
- Terms and definitions used in STCW
- Relationship to other Conventions and Codes
- Changes due to Manila Amendments 2010
- Requirements for certification
- Certificates per rank according STCW
- Competence requirements
- Training requirements
