
The Bank of Greece held a very successful event to present the 2025 Numismatic Program, which includes collector coins dedicated to leading figures and historical facts. This year’s program is dedicated to Mikis Theodorakis, ancient Greek scientists such as Eratosthenes and Ptolemy with his astrolabe, historical facts and events of the Greek Revolution and the internationally renowned sculptor Takis.
The issuance of the collector coin “100 Years since the Birth of the Sculptor Takis” was organized by the Bank of Greece, the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Banknote Printing Works of the Bank of Greece (IETA) – National Mint, within the framework of the 2025 Numismatic Program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the sculptor Takis. This action is an honour for the great pioneering, as internationally recognised, artist Takis, as well as for the Takis Foundation, which was founded by the artist himself in 1986 as the cradle of his artistic and research work. The event was held at the Central Branch of the Bank of Greece. the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Mr Yiannis Stournaras and the General Secretary of the Ministry of national Economy and Finance, Mrs Pavlina Karasiotou delivered a welcome address.
The event was coordinated by the Director of the Banknote Printing Works of the Bank of Greece (IETA) – National Mint, Mr Konstantinos Dimitrakopoulos. The Takis Foundation’s Legal Counsel, Stella Skoura, spoke about the Sculptor Takis and the Takis Foundation.
We honour and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great artist Takis (1925-2019) with events and activities that will take place throughout the year, both at the Takis Foundation and in collaboration with important domestic and international organisations and Foundations.
