This 10 questions survey will only take 2 minutes to complete
As yacht crew, the PYA would be most grateful if you could complete this short survey on Dynamic Positioning (DP), as well as forward this survey link to fellow crew, so that we can gather as much relevant data as possible.
Please reply by Wednesday 23 April 2025, as your input will be included directly to a major maritime sector meeting on Dynamic Positioning we are attending in May 2025.
We are aware that there is a growing number of vessels in our industry with DP installed. As part of our goal to enhance crew safety, we are seeking your input.
Dynamic Positioning is a system that allows a vessel to be controlled by joystick or held in position against wind and tide, by a computerised controller. There are several levels, from DP 0, which does not include redundancy in the system, to DP 3 where there is multiple redundancy in case of system failure. DP 3 is required for vessels and systems operating in safety critical situations, such as in the oil and gas sector.
The purpose of this survey is to establish if there is a need for formal certified DP training tailored to superyachts, either onboard or onshore.
You will have the option to answer this survey anonymously.
You can find it here: Fill out the survey
Thank you in advance.
