The UK’s premier logistics event returns to Birmingham’s NEC on 17th-19th June with a groundbreaking AI Clinic and comprehensive conference programme

3rd June 2025

Supply chain professionals across the UK are being urged to secure their free place at Multimodal 2025, which promises to be the most comprehensive logistics event in its history, taking place 17th-19th June at Birmingham’s NEC.

The 18th annual Multimodal exhibition will welcome 275 exhibitors alongside a record-breaking programme featuring over 100 speakers across 71 conference sessions – representing the largest gathering of logistics expertise ever assembled at the event.

Revolutionary AI Clinic Debuts on Exhibition Floor
For the first time, Multimodal 2025 will feature a dedicated AI Clinic on the main exhibition floor, addressing the urgent industry need for practical artificial intelligence solutions. As global trade enters what The Economist describes as a “new era of globalisation,” the clinic will showcase how AI is transforming logistics operations whilst 31% of businesses currently adjust their supply chain networks in response to geopolitical volatility.

Robert Jervis, Multimodal Event Director, commented: “The logistics industry is navigating unprecedented complexity as global trade patterns evolve. Our new AI Clinic addresses the critical need for practical, implementable solutions that can help businesses adapt quickly. Visitors will gain insights from world-class experts who can demystify AI technology and demonstrate how it delivers immediate operational benefits whilst building long-term resilience.”

Tackling Industry Sleep Deprivation Through Innovation
Addressing a challenge affecting safety and efficiency, Multimodal 2025 introduces the innovative Multimodal Night Club at stand 2098. This unique initiative tackles supply chain sleep deprivation, which costs the UK economy £50 billion annually. With over 1.5 million night-shift workers keeping supply chains moving, the Nightclub will explore how businesses can reduce the risks of night work and support shift workers’ well-being.

Industry-Leading Conference Programme
The three-day conference will feature engaging sessions addressing the most pressing challenges facing the logistics sector. Leading the impressive roster is Gary Jeffreys, Managing Director of Maersk, who will headline a panel discussion on “Unlocking UK Connectivity Puzzle”, exploring how cross-modal connectivity between roads, railways, ports and warehousing clusters can drive productivity improvements whilst supporting decarbonisation objectives.

Other standout sessions include:

  • “How Artificial Intelligence is Transforming Multimodal Logistics” chaired by Samantha Brocklehurst at Maersk
  • “International Rail Freight – Time for a New Opportunity” featuring Andrea Pearson OBE, Deputy Director of International Rail and Rail Freight at the Department for Transport
  • “Transforming Fulfilment from Couch to Car” with Alex Salden, Managing Director of The Sofa Delivery Company/DFS
  • Sustainability panels led by Kate Broome, Sustainability and Social Impact Director at Kuehne+Nagel UK

Comprehensive Exhibition Spanning Three Days
The exhibition floor will host representatives from across the breadth of supply chain, freight and logistics sectors over the three days. Confirmed exhibitors include industry leaders such as Malcolm Logistics, DP World, Maritime Transport, MSC, Peel Ports, CMA CGM, Freightliner, Kuehne+Nagel, Hapag-Lloyd, ASM, Ocean Network Express, DHL, and CEVA Logistics.

Building on the success of Multimodal 2024, which welcomed 307 exhibitors and 13,003 visitors – a 6% increase from the previous year – this year’s event promises even greater networking and business opportunities for logistics professionals.

Commitment to Sustainability
Multimodal 2025 demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility through its partnership with CCL Logistics & Technology as Official Sustainability Partner. Attendees will be able to offset their travel and accommodation emissions easily upon arrival, with CCL purchasing carbon credits on their behalf to contribute to a greener future.

The comprehensive conference programme will also feature dedicated sustainability sessions showcasing real-world case studies on decarbonisation within multimodal logistics, including examples of eHGV implementation, charging networks, and the decarbonisation of rail and water freight.

Education
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a range of demonstrations and exhibits from South & City College Birmingham, one of the largest colleges across the West Midlands. This will include hydrogen-powered lorries, a hydrogen MIRA vehicle, ADAS machines, and two hybrid vehicles provided to the college to prepare learners for the future of the industry.

There will be several spotlight demonstrations of automotive training taught at the college, providing live insight on hydrogen (both heavy and light vehicles), ADAS, F Gas, and electric vehicles, providing a glimpse into the hands-on learning experiences offered at SCCB.

Free Registration
All conference sessions and exhibition access are completely free for registered visitors, with places offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Supply chain professionals can secure their complimentary registration via: https://forms.reg.buzz/multimodal-2025

Event Show Director Robert Jervis concluded: “Multimodal continues to be the premier gathering for the UK logistics sector. The 2025 programme reflects our commitment to addressing the most pressing challenges facing the industry, from sustainability and technological innovation to geopolitical disruption and regulatory changes. With our most extensive conference programme ever, we’re providing unparalleled opportunities for knowledge exchange and professional development.”
