Supporters encouraged to take on a new challenge in aid of the world’s 1.5 million seafarer.

Seafarers face daily challenges, including turbulent seas, threat of piracy and long months away from family and friends. So, Sailors’ Society is urging you to embrace the New Year and #ChallengeYourself for those who brave harsh environments to deliver 90 per cent of our goods.

The maritime welfare charity is running several high-energy, adrenaline-filled challenge events for you to choose from.

Sofie Bennett, Sailors’ Society events manager, said: “It’s the start of the year and we’re all making New Year resolutions, so why not take on a new challenge and raise money for seafarers at the same time? Your trainers and bike were probably brought by sea – you could put them to good use in one of our trekking or cycling events. You’ll also be raising awareness of the daily challenges merchant seafarers face.”

Sailors’ Society has 2016 London Marathon and Ride London-Surrey places available and is holding a Three Peaks Challenge later in the year. Alternatively, you could organise your own sponsored event and donate the proceeds.
