Registered precipitation in the Canal watershed from January 1, 2017, to February 15, 2017, has been 50% below the average for this time of year, causing water levels in Gatun and Madden Lakes to fall well below the expected levels. Due to the current situation, the Panama Canal has deemed it necessary to implement water conservation measures in order to reduce the possibility of imposing draft restrictions in the near future. Therefore, the following measures are being implemented effective immediately:
Although these measures are not expected to have a major impact on the Canal’s capacity, some may have an adverse effect on normal transit operations. These water conservation measures will remain in force until water levels return to normal. | Port ops resumed after unexploded bomb removed |

| All shipping movements have resumed at Portsmouth after an unexploded World War 2 bomb containing more than 130kg of explosives was found in the harbour by a dredger in the early hours of this morning (22 February).
The discovery of the bomb temporarily halted ferries and trains in the area. Roads were also closed as a precautionary measure. The bomb has since been towed out to sea. Dredging is being conducted to deepen and widen a 7km channel to allow the Royal Navy’s new 65,000-tonne aircraft carriers to dock. | All banks, authorities and port administrations in Russia will be closed for long holidays from tomorrow (23 February) through to 26 February due to public holidays. The first working day in Russia will be Monday 27 February.

| Floodwaters as deep as 150cm have inundated buildings and caused widespread traffic and public transport disruption in South, East and North Jakarta.
Tanjung Priok port authorities, immigration, customs and Pertamina advise that their services have not been affected, and that employees are working in rotation at some offices.
