17 January 2018 – (LONDON) The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) are pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Drysdale as the new OCIMF Director. The handover will take place at ExCom 81 in June when BP’s Captain Andrew Cassels, who has served as Director for three years, will step down.
Rob Drysdale was seconded to OCIMF from International Marine Transportation Limited (IMT) in May 2016 as Senior Technical Advisor. Since then he has remained on secondment and successfully managed the Technical group through a particularly heavy workload period to progress many publications including Inert Gas Systems: The Use of Inert Gas for the Carriage of Flammable Oil Cargoes, Linked Ship/Shore Emergency Shutdown Systems for Oil and Chemical Transfers, Tanker Management Self Assessment, Recommendations for Oil and Chemical Tanker Manifolds and Associated Equipment and the upcoming fourth edition of the Mooring Equipment Guidelines. During this period, the new format of the Regional Marine Forums and a new project management tool for development of publications has also been rolled out.
OCIMF Director Captain Andrew Cassels said of the appointment, “It has been an honour and pleasure leading OCIMF for the last three years. Rob Drysdale has successfully served as Senior Technical Adviser in OCIMF for two years and I cannot think of a better successor.”
Rob said, “I am very pleased, and honoured to be offered the role of Director at OCIMF. I very much appreciate the trust that has been placed in me by our Executive Committee and whilst daunting to be filling the shoes of so many respected former Directors, I know Andrew is leaving the organisation in a very good place and I couldn’t ask for a better start.”
