BDI dives further

John Faraclas

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost another 39 points  since yesterday and now stands at 1,114 points sending warnings …”shots” all around… The Wets too on a downfall mode and Geopolitics must question our patience as things escalate and WWIII might engulf us all very soon on Planet Ocean… John Faraclas’ daily briefing:

The Capers fall was …”contracted” to 85 points with the BCI now reading 1,528 points…

The Panamaxes lost 34 points and the BPI now stands at 1,378 points…

The Supras’ BSI was down seven points to 877 and the Handies’ BHSI down six to 552…

Moreover we are going to see some changes in the dry indices and there wouldn’t be, as of the 1st of March 2018, Handysize timecharter average…

The Wets continued to fall further; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Clean) stood at 664 – minus six and 602 – minus 26 points respectively… CAUTION…

The WTI was approaching the US$ 65.75 with higher projections – a bit of  a dangerous though issue… You all know our views on the price of oil above the US$50 (fifty) mark… The major oil produces and in particular oil companies might “balance” their books and even have profits, but the poor masses comprising the 90 centum at least of  the world’s population are in grave danger…

Container shipping must get its act together before it is too late; consolidation is NOT the only problem, luck of money, luck of purchase power by the consumers to buy the goods manufactured in the Far East and … designed in the West… to be carried by the boxships… A big mess…

Geopolitical issues remain the same and will analyse same further on our weekly report tomorrow, but we stand to our main issues of yesterday’s report and warn that Turkey’s behaviour  against Greece and all  other counties in its periphery, will not only backfire, will end up in a mess for all Turkey’s backers… Wonder where is dignity from the World’s eight most powerful leaders and nations leaders: USA, Russia, China, The UK, France, Germany, India and Japan… ah! ADD the UN Secretary-General… The threats by president’s Erdogan aide that Turks will break any Greek official’s legs, be it an MP or even Greece’ s PM who will dare land on the Greek islets of Imia in the Eastern Aegean is beyond any precedent and humane behaviour. Obviously we all know that Turkey is the champion of all pariah states/nations despite its periphery’s “understanding” and “patience” over the last century… Be on guard…

The other issue that many nations of the Western world and particular in Europe are on high state of alert to “combat”, if needed, the returning  jihadist ISIS young fighters from Syria and Iraq…  Ultra-caution should be observed…

A great gathering at Mahiki’s central bar

On another note we joined the drinks and dips reception party of the Hellenic Banker’s Association at the Mahiki party hosted in coordination with Innerplace at new Mahiki Kensington; a full house, jovial mood and intense networking.

Have a nice evening and be on guard from any eventuality emanating from Pirates and Terrorists wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
