The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 16 points earlier on today; Geopolitics still chaotically messy! John Faraclas’ market briefing:

The Capes still the main driver for the dry cargoes saw the BCIp up 51 points at 3,587.

The Panamaxes managed to see its BPI up 23 points after a long time of nose-diving – 1,362 points “make” the difference.

Plus two points for the Supras’ BSI now standing at 1,042

No change for the Handies’ BHSI still at 543 points.

The Wets both on an upwards; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 715 – plus two, and 492 – plus three respectively.

The WTI at US$ 68.30 – slightly up… Caution…

The Geopolitics still in chaos; a very perplexed situation! The USA will press Turkey to the limit. The drums of war can be heard! President Trump wants here and now pastor Andrew Brunson to be freed; end of the story. The more Turkish president Erdogan upsets the USA, the more the situation will become messy for him and the Turkish people… More sanctions against Turkey. Turkey’s reaction is at best childish.

In a show of goodwill Turkish Justice released the two Greek servicemen held since March in an Andrianople jail in Eastern Thrace… Let’s see the next move… Hold a small basket… as there was earlier on today a mock fighting involving Greek and Turkish warplanes as well as 14 violation of Greece’s and Europe’s airspace. CAUTION! An oxymoron as always…

The MIGRANTS still the number one issue. More and more are coming over from the Turkish Anatolian coast to Greece / Europe and to Spain / Italy from the North Africa coast..  Let’s what will happen with the “Aquarius” which has 141 migrants on board.  Will the Maltese authorities allow he to berth and disembark them. What a shameful five-day  tug of war so to speak that is; let’s hope.

Another despicable Terrorist attack outside the British Parliament  caution! Excellent and swift response by the Police and Security Services!

Over 35 dead following a collapse of a bridge/ highway in Genova, Italy! What a disaster! I remember back in 1967 when we visited Genoa that we were taken for a tour to see this unique transport infrastructure 100 meters above the ground which we have gone through/ drive over the last years on our way to Greece.

The death toll in Attica, Greece following the wildfires of the 23rd of July has risen to 96. 29 are still in hospital. Two more are unidentified…  Let’s see Greece’s Justice response on this despicable mess. In the meantime we are keeping a close eye on all issues in Greece given the “end” of the moratorium… We believe things will go worse; we are not influenced by rating agencies. Our guide is the actual situation we witness everyday by our teams around the country… If anybody objects, we can entertain him/her anytime they wish!

Still tensions between the UK and Brussels on BREXIT; be on guard…  meantime the foreign secretary  Jeremy Hunt has told the EU it faces a “strategic choice” about whether to strike a mutually beneficial deal with the UK. He hope his three day tour in Latvia, Denmark and the Netherlands turns beneficial for both sides. In Finland today he had talks with his counterpart Timo Soini.

More news later on; until then be on guard for any eventuality emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and Criminals wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
