Theresa May is safe from a leadership challenge through her rebellious but so far irresolute backbenchers. Just as the challenge to the prime minister in the 1922 Committee has not happened – and I doubt it will happen –  the European Union withdrawal deal will be approved by the House of Commons. The fear of ‘no deal’, as well as a dislike of ‘no Brexit’, are strong enough for there to be a small majority to approve the agreement. The Brexit deal, bad as it is, is the best that can be got.

Meeting: Outlook for reserve asset management

OMFIF is convening a group of economic experts and asset managers, mainly from a public sector background, to summarise economic and financial developments and discuss the outlook for public sector investment management in Europe.

This meeting has a limited capacity and registrants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note registration closes on Friday 25 January.
