Svitzer announces escalation of tariffs

Svitzer Australia has advised that its public tariffs will escalate by an average of 2.8% Australia-wide from 1 April.
This follows their 2019 tariff review, which included a review of their surcharge mechanisms, resulting in more favourable conditions including reductions to:
– Late Booking/Booking Amendments;
– Tug Cancellations;
– Deadship movements;
and
– Active Standby requirements.
The average increase does not reflect the specific tariff increase per port. Refer to the individual port tariffs for 2019 rates.

Laying of submarine cables

Work is being carried out to lay submarine cables south of Tuas Extension from today (4 March) until 17 March.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.26 of 2019, the work is being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 12.870’N / 103 deg. 36.741’E
2) 01 deg. 12.830’N / 103 deg. 36.900’E
3) 01 deg. 12.717’N / 103 deg. 36.853’E
4) 01 deg. 12.757’N / 103 deg. 36.695’E
The work will involve the laying of submarine cables. Divers will be deployed for the work. Safety boats will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
