Relocation of Navigation Channel Buoy

The navigation channel buoy “3” at Aberdeen South Typhoon Shelter has been relocated about 60 metres southward to a new position (WGS 84 Datum) at 22 deg. 14.470’N / 114 deg. 09.719’E.

Tropical Cyclone Ann update (14 May)

Tropical Cyclone Ann is moving towards the west-northwest in the northern Coral Sea and is expected to continue its current motion and likely to cross the northeast tropical coast of Queensland tomorrow (Wednesday 15 May). It is forecast to cross as a category 1 cyclone, though it may weaken to a tropical low beforehand.
Weather conditions for berthing at Cape Flattery remain unfavourable until the Tropical Low or Cyclone pass tomorrow (Wednesday 15 May). At this stage berthing first thing on Thursday looks probable. There are currently NO closures to the Ports of Townsville, Cairns, Weipa, Lucinda and Mourilyan.
At 7:00am AEST, Tropical Cyclone Ann was a Category 1 system with sustained winds near the centre of 75km per hour with wind gusts to 100km per hour. It is located within 35km of 14.8 deg. South / 149.8 deg. East, 490km east northeast of Cairns and 170km north of Willis Island and moving west northwest at 23km per hour.
