The webinar is organized by Total Telecom in association with Submarine Networks EMEA and is open to all participants, without charge.
The webinar – designed for cable manufacturers, suppliers and equipment providers; marine survey and monitoring providers, and cable owners/operators – will address:
• How submarine cables be used for environmental monitoring, disaster mitigation and understanding the ocean by deploying oceanographic sensors
• The need for collaboration between interested parties: cable operators, suppliers, regulators, science and early warning agencies, etc.
• Possible business and finance models for early SMART systems
• Protecting the interests of commercial cable owners and telecoms users

The WOC SMART Ocean-SMART Industries (SO-SI) Program has established the global platform for systematic and strategic engaging of industry infrastructure (e.g. vessels, platforms and cables) to host or deploy instrumentation for collecting ocean and atmospheric data in support of sustainable development.
The WOC is a member of the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Smart Cable Systems established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO/IOC), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
