Reclamation works at Ayer Merbau Basin

The working period for reclamation works at Ayer Merbau Basin has been extended. The works will now be carried out until 9 January 2021.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.045 of 2020, the works are being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 1 deg. 16.169’N / 103 deg. 44.006’E
2) 1 deg. 15.917’N / 103 deg. 44.169’E
3) 1 deg. 15.677’N / 103 deg. 43.866’E
4) 1 deg. 15.781’N / 103 deg. 43.785’E

The reclamation works include removal of undersea de-commissioned cables, debris and existing rock revetment, dredging, sand filling and shore protection.

A safety boat is deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of

the project.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control);
and
e) Communicate with West Control for assistance, if required.

Reconstruction works for light beacon at Lan Pai, off Ma Wan

For approximately 5 months, reconstruction works for a light beacon will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D):
(A) 22 deg. 21.378’N / 114 deg. 03.989’E
(B) 22 deg. 21.378’N / 114 deg. 04.047’E
(C) 22 deg. 21.324’N / 114 deg. 04.047’E
(D) 22 deg. 21.324’N / 114 deg. 03.989’E

The works will be carried out by a dumb lighter. One tugboat and one work boat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 15 metres around the lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighter.

A silt curtain, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtain.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will not stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Port re-opened after weather improves

Following an improvement in weather conditions, Buckeye Bahamas Hub changed its Port Status from Port Restricted to Port Open at 1448 hours local time yesterday (13 July).

STS charges revised & simplified

Sohar Industrial Port Authorities have revised and simplified all STS-related charges with effect from 1 July 2020.

The new tariff for STS charges at Sohar include lower and fixed STS fees (no more GRT relation) and simplified tug fees for STS operations.
