Climate change is causing an increase in diseases resulting from tick bites. In 2021 47,000 cases of Lyme disease were recorded in France, 71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The figure in 2009 was 46 per 100,000.

One of the two people seriously injured when an inflatable structure was swept away by a violent gust in an amusement park in the Var on Sunday has died from his injuries. His young daughter remains in critical condition.

A sailor who fell into the sea from his catamaran on Sunday afternoon off Cap d’Ail was rescued by a Monaco Maritime Police launch after spending an hour in the water. Waves 2 metres high prevented him from getting back on board his own boat. A French coastguard helicopter coordinated the search.

Collections for Ukraine continue along the Riviera, in Menton, Nice and Cannes. In Monaco, donors are asked to bring nappies (diapers) or toothbrushes to the collection point at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on ave. Grande Bretagne between 10:00 and 14:00 until August 5. Distribution will be carried out by the Baptist Church in Budapest directly into the hands of Ukrainian refugees.
