Recent developments in zero-emission rules for Norway’s World Heritage fjords

After massive feedback from the affected industry, the Norwegian Maritime Authority has revised its proposal for the zero-emission regulation of Norway’s World Heritage and surrounding fjords. 

The updated proposal – which is not final yet and still needs government approval – now has two alternatives, both of which allow some use of biofuels until 2035, but with different criteria and conditions. In our expert interview, Helge Hermundsgård compares the alternatives and their implications for cruise operators in these fjords.
